About Advent & Christmas |
What is the meaning of Advent? |
Advent-Christmas is one of the two most significant periods of Christ’s life that are celebrated each year by Christians around the world (the other being Lent-Easter). Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas Day. It is a time of preparation and prayer preparing our hearts to welcome the rebirth of God’s love in the form of His Son Jesus Christ.
During the Advent and Christmas season, we celebrate with our children in worship services
designed for adults and especially for toddlers and young children. |

How is Advent-Christmas Celebrated at MUMC? |
Worship schedule will follow our normal pattern, with gatherings at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Additionally, for each of these four Sundays of Advent we will offer the sacrament of Communion at both services of worship.

During this season our Sunday School and Youth Group will prepare and present for us a Christmas play depicting the birth of Jesus Christ in song, dance and outstanding performance. |
This service of worship is designed especially for families with toddlers and young children, though all are welcome. This is a service perfect for parents who want to introduce their children to Christian rituals on Christmas Eve but are reluctant about bringing younger children into a traditional worship space. Experience the joy of Christ’s coming into the world as a baby!

The Festival of Nine Lessons, Carols and Communion is the family service that retells the story of Christmas in word and song. A joyous celebration of Christ’s coming into our midst.
The Nativity of Our Lord is a candlelight service with choir, sermon, and the celebration of Holy Communion. A celebration of deep joy, as we stand together around our Lord’s table, faces aglow in candlelight as we welcome the first moments of Christmas Day.
