Our Mission
|
To love God with all our heart, and mind, and soul, and strength,
and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
|
Loving
We believe that there is no higher calling and no more important purpose in life than the love of God, the Source of our being. Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves is the primary way that we express our love of God, and the connection we feel with our neighbors brings us mutual joy! This love for God and our neighbors takes the form of prayers,
meals, Food Pantry donations and volunteering, mission trips to Nicaragua, youth gatherings with other United Methodist youth and those of other faiths, and more. Our role model for our life together is Jesus of Nazareth, known as Jesus the Christ, or Anointed of God.
|
Care for God’s Creation is also an expression of our love for God. Jesus said that not even a sparrow falls that God is not aware of and does not care about. We believe that all people and all living things are intimately connected and interrelated and valued by God the Creator. Our care for God’s Creation includes an annual Animal Blessing Service and study of ways we can make a positive environmental impact. For example, our church uses ceramic mugs for our refreshment time instead of disposable cups. What we do today will make a difference for our children and grandchildren tomorrow. Join us in good stewardship!

Learning
As we live out our mission and calling, as followers of Jesus of Nazareth, as known through the Gospels and through personal and communal spiritual experience, we believe in a faith that is integrated with intellectual curiosity and inquiry/study. We approach the Bible through the lens of reason, history/tradition and experience, as well as the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We believe that faith is not meant to divide, but to open hearts and minds so that bridges are built with others of different faiths and beliefs. We find much common ground between United Methodists and those of other faiths and spiritualities in the cultivation of devotion to God and compassion toward other people and living things. We are a church that is involved in interfaith work and interfaith dialogue, as well as ecumenical Christian mission’s work and worship services.
