In honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday weekend. We will take a Human Relations Day offering, one of the UMC Special Sunday Offerings. This offering helps bring hope and help to youthful offenders. How will you honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this year?

Friday, December 24 – Christmas Eve at Mamaroneck UMC: We will hold two services in our lovely sanctuary on December 24th:

  • 6:30 p.m. featuring bell choir, soloists and more! Family friendly with. Young People’s Moment, but also a message for adults! Join us in person or by zoom at our regular Sunday worship link.
  • You can also join us at 11:00 p.m. BY ZOOM ONLY and bring a candle to light at home for “Silent Night” at the end of the service. The 11:00 service will also feature communion, so make sure to have your bread and juice ready. Both services can be accessed by this link:

Sunday, December 22, 7pm – Blue Christmas Service, In Person and Zoom at New Rochelle UMC: We are gathering as a Cooperative Parish to support each other during a time when many have suffered losses and are grieving. If you would feel comforted by such a service of subdued carols, prayers and reflection, join us! A flyer is forthcoming with information. Meanwhile, if you have a loved one you would like named and remembered in the service, please send a photo and name to Amanda in the church office who will collect them to be sent to New Rochelle prior to the service.  
 
Sunday, December 19, 10am – Children’s Christmas Presentation and Pledge Dedication Sunday.  On our traditional Christmas Pageant Sunday, we will have a presentation by our Sunday School, celebrating the meaning of Christmas! Don’t miss it! Thank you to Kate Beeby for her work with our young people and to Karina and Steve for their music!

First Sunday of Advent, Sunday, November 28 Join us for the lovely season of Advent as we light the first candle on our wreath. Our featured musicians this week are Emily Taubenblatt, Karina Calabro and our Solo Quartet!

We will offer our weekly communion service at 8 a.m.  The 10 am service will be live streamed on Zoom. Please join us on Zoom at the link below if you are either not vaccinated at present or cannot join us in person for any reason.

Tastes of Freedom Luncheon, Sunday, 1/22/2017Our annual Tastes of Freedom luncheon in honor of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday, January 22, at 11:00AM.  This year’s guest speaker will be Mahjabeen Hassan MD, co-founder and board member of the Center for Jewish Christian Muslim Understanding and the American Muslim Women’s Association.  A plastic surgeon with a practice in Sleepy Hollow, Dr. Hassan has won awards for her interfaith work, including the Yitzhak Rabin Peacemaker Award in 2003 and Ambassador for Peace in 2009.

We will worship God in the auditorium where our Sunday School will showcase their dramatic performance of the Christmas Story.  We will also have an opportunity during the service to walk forward with pledge cards, laying them by the foot of the manger with Baby Jesus.  Our gifts to support the ministries of the church are our gifts for Jesus that keep on giving all year round!

5:00PM – Children’s Worship: A brief worship experience especially for children, but also meaningful for adults.  Light refreshments to follow.

7:00PM – Candlelight Communion Worship: Lessons and Carols, Homily, Communion, closing with candlelight.  Come enjoy glorious, traditional Christmas anthems and hymns song by our choir.

11:00PM – Midnight Communion:  Carols, Homily and candlelight all serve to welcome Christmas Day and the blessing of the Incarnation, the child of Bethlehem, the Savior, God with Us!

All profits will go to fund a mission trip to Cochabamba, Bolivia for a member of our Youth Group, Aryana Fernandez, . Aryana will be happy to talk to you at her booth set up in the Lower Church Parlor after worship regarding Bolivia, the activities and the goals for the mission. 11:00am – You are invited to attend our annual Tastes of Freedom Luncheon on Sunday 01/24/2016.  The luncheon follows immediately after our 10am Worship Service in the Lower Church Parlor from 11 am – 12:30 PM.  The celebration honors Dr. Martin Luther King’s leadership and vision of unity.  His willingness to serve others requires each of us to do our part to improve the communities in which we live, and beyond. Bring a dish from your ethnic heritage and invite your friends and family to this fun and festive event.  This luncheon is open to the public (read press release) and co-sponsored by the New York Conference of the United Methodist Church, the Turkish Cultural Center of Westchester, and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) – Westchester.  Our guest speaker, Dr. Mahjabeen Hassan, will share on one of the ideals of MLK’s vision and its impact in our modern society. Larchmont Food Pantry, Sunday, 11/22/2015

On Sunday, November 22 from 12-1:30p.m., we are looking for people to collect food donations outside of the Larchmont Stop & Shop. Youth are particularly encouraged to take part in this event. Please let Pastor Karen or Bruce Meighan know if you can help us collect food that day.

Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast, Thursday, 11/19/2015

The AJC Global Jewish Advocacy group is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for the 2015 Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast on November 19th at Manhattanville College.  This year’s breakfast will honor leaders in the community who exemplify the theme of “Respecting Ourselves, Respecting Others.”

Mamaroneck United Methodist Church and the New York Conference are among  the prime participants/sponsors of this event—Karina Calabro is one of the key Music Directors and Steve Gill is one of the Co-chairs.  Also, our very good friend Cliff Wolf is a special honoree.  This year more than ever we need to stand strong for tolerance and mutual respect across the faith spectrum.

The Annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, Wednesday, 11/18/2015

Wednesday November 18th, 2015 at 7:30 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow. Many houses of worship will be participating with choirs, members, youths, and clergy.  All are welcome. Please bring non-perishable donations of food for our local emergency food pantries.
