What to Expect
Holy Communion

The Christian Church has been worshiping for over 2,000 years –   hearing the same stories, singing much of the same music and gathering around the same table.  It’s remarkable how it has stood the test of time, transforming lives and communities the world over.  We want no less for ourselves.

worshippictureOn Sunday mornings you will find our doors open, ready to receive you into our shared worship of God. This could be one of the most diverse and energizing seasons of worship you’ve experienced.  Come, experience MUMC.

We offer two worship services each Sunday. The 8am–8:30am service is a brief communion service without music. While, the 10am–11am is the traditional worship service with hymns led by our choir.

  • Expect to be warmly greeted at our Sunday Worship Services.
  • Come as you are. You’ll find most people wear business casual, but some like ties and some like jeans. We just want you to worship with us.
  • Bring your infants and children to church.  We are known as the “Kid Friendly” church
  • Communion is offered monthly and all are welcome to partake. You do not have to be a member to receive the elements of bread and grape juice. Gluten-free wafers are available to those who are sensitive to wheat.
  • The 8am service is a short service without music and singing.
  • The 10am service is interactive with singing, readings and prayer requests from the congregation.
  • During the 10am worship service there is a “Children’s Moment” when our Pastor invites all children to the altar for an age appropriate lesson including props and question and answer.
  • After the “Children’s Moment”, the children ages 3 months to 11 years are dismissed from worship and escorted to Sunday School or childcare in the lower wing of the Education building.  Parents of young children are welcome to accompany their children to help get them settled, if you so desire.
  • After 10am worship, all are invited to join us at “Coffee Hour” a time of fellowship in the Lower Church Parlor. A great time to meet the church family, begin to form friendships and feed our sweet tooth, as well!
Holy Communion
While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take: this is my body.”  Then he took a cup and after giving thanks he gave it to them and all of them drank from it.  “This is my blood of the new covenant which is poured out for many.”   Mark 14:22-24
The Lord’s Supper or Communion is a holy meal of bread and wine that symbolizes the body and blood of Christ.  By sharing this meal, United Methodists give thanks for Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins.  The Lord’s Supper recalls the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and celebrates the unity of all the members of God’s family.

Here at Mamaroneck United Methodist, Communion is offered weekly at the 8am service and monthly at the 10am service. All are welcome to partake. You do not have to be a member to receive the elements of bread and grape juice. Gluten-free wafers are available to those who are sensitive to wheat.

Childcare
A staff of three excellent caregivers awaits your children in the lower wing of the Education building each Sunday during our 10:00am worship service.  We are eager to welcome your child either to the Infant and Toddler Nursery for children ages 3-30 months or to our Preschool Room for children 30 months to five years.
